Bobux Xplorer Shoes: Top 5

Bobux Xplorer Review

I was massively thrilled way back at the end of last year when I received a reply to my tweet to try out the Bobux Xplorer range.  Precious Sparkle had recently started walking and I wasn’t sure about the shoes to get for him. It is very important to me that his feet has room to grow, but I also want to make sure they’re protected when we are out and about. So this was a fab opportunity for me, a first time mum muddling through motherhood.

The shoes arrived amidst much expectation and to my delight in January this year. As you’ve probably guessed, I was very keen to try it on my son, and I did. Precious Sparkle has put them through their paces over the months, and literally tried and tested them on a range of surfaces.

My verdict: I really like Bobux Xplorer and I highly recommend it.

As a new blogger then, it was especially lovely to take part in Bobux’s sampling campaign, though it took me a while to get it round my head that no review was expected from me.

However, we’ve had such a good time with our pair of shoes that I’ve decided to write about it. They are a key part of the development of Precious Sparkle’s walking. Our little boy even learnt to say, ‘shoes’ with his Bobux Xplorer :-). ‘Awwww’, right!

Here are the top 5 things I really like about our Bobux Xplorer.

1. Lovely Texture

They look and feel like good quality. We got the original range, which is made of 100% leather like all Bobux shoes. They are just right in their consistency;  simultaneously hard, soft, and stretchy enough for big hands to put on little feet, and for a comfy fit.

2. Cool Colours

Such fun combinations; we went for the black and blue one and it goes with all of Precious Sparkle’s outfits.

‘Cool, comfy, and cute’ are the words that come to mind. Its strap fits through an attached top flap, making it easy to keep secure when faced with exploring little hands. The elastic mechanism that joins the rim of the shoes to the front fixed flap makes the shoes easy to put and keep on little feet. This of course also means that it has extra room for a comfy feel beneath little ankles.

4. Firm and Flexible Sole

It’s like the base of a rocking chair; only its middle rests on the surface it’s on. I think this adds to its comfy feature. Its firmness and flexibility are definitely an essential for its dual indoor and outdoor use. It’s soft enough to wear indoors, for toddling and crawling; but firm enough for walking outside on a range of surfaces.

Precious Sparkle sometimes ‘jumped’ with it, stamping heavily on the ground just for the fun of it.

5. Durable

Bobux’s measurement guide made it easy to choose the right size for Precious Sparkle; this gave enough growth space for us to use our pair for over 5 months! We got the 3.5 size for him and he started wearing it around 11 months.

The front of the shoe is wide enough for wiggly toes and it’s easy to feel through, to know when it’s time to move to a bigger size. Precious Sparkle walked in it on a range of terrain both in and outdoor – carpeted, tiled, grass, paved, sandy, bumpy, rocky, smooth etc – without any issues.

It’s also breathable; he always wore them with socks in a range of temperature and his feet never got sweaty.

I was surprised that it didn’t fall to pieces given the use we got out of it at home, church, parliament, parks etc. I’m of course glad that it’s still in good working condition and I’m definitely planning to reuse it next time round :-).  For now, we’ll be storing it in Precious Sparkle’s keepsake box.

  2. They look great. It’s pretty hard to get comfy shoes for toddlers that actually stay on! 🙂

  3. My son had this exact pair and hes sadly outgrown them, I’m gutted because hes started taking steps now and theyd be perfect for learning to walk in

  4. I am a massive fan of these shoes, my daughter had a pair as her first shoes makes me all nostalgic!

  5. What a great review! I love how it’s laid out, very clear and interesting to read. 🙂 These shoes look fab, they’re so different from the types of things you see in Clarks and I’m so glad to hear that they’re so durable and have lasted him so long!
It’s a great little give away too! Luke’s grown out of size 5 now so that’s a real shame. He was that horrible “between shoe sizes” for a while, but I think he’s good in a 6 now!
Thanks for linking up to #ToddlerApprovedTuesday, Ray xx

    • Thank for an uplifting feedback, very kind of you. In-between shoe sizes is annoying, glad Luke is now fully size 6. Yeah, Bobux shoes are really fab, super quality really. I’m really pleased it lasted him that long; more than the expected. Thanks for dropping by and commenting. 🙂

  6. I love the fact that they are 100% leather, i think thats really important for little feet. They look really trendy too!

  7. What did I like about my little one’s first pair of shoes?
The lady in the shop gave me a good tip to get prewalkers with a buckle rather than velcro as my son likes to pull off socks and would easily pull off velcro shoes. If she hadn’t suggested it I would probably have lost many shoes by now!

    • My son likes to pull his socks off too; and he now enjoys opening one of the velcro straps on his current pair of shoes whilst I tell him not to open it. :-). I’ll keep your tip in mind for future shoe buying. 🙂

  8. I already liked the look of these shoes but actually reading your review makes me certain we’ll be getting a pair of these for Rosie for her first ‘proper’ shoe. I like that they have flexible soles (i read that hard soles can be harmful) and that they’re breathable.

    • Fab; I definitely recommend them and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it when you get it for Rosie. I don’t know enough about soles; we really appreciate the flexible soles of the Xplorer during the months my son tried it :-).

  9. they look so comfy and he looks happy with them. do they do big sizes 🙂 I could do with some

  10. These look brill, we have always tried to get “good” shoes for my daughter and went to the most well known shop for kids shoes……..3 times she was misfited and because she had been wearing them they wouldn’t swap even tho they admitted liability by not measuring properly………….I simply don’t trust them anymore for my son so was looking for something great!!!

Btw your lil man has THE cutest outfits!!

    • They are brill! Thanks so much for your lovely comment about my lil man; I like his outfits too. Sorry about the situation with your daughter, what a shame; they should have swapped it for you as a goodwill gesture. Hope you have a better experience with your son.

  11. First shoes are so important. These are good quality and look great too. Love the review xxx
