What I Need To Get Through Christmas

Oh my word, it’s day 11 of #12daysofparenting; can you believe that? Today’s theme is about helpful products to get through the season. Thanks for hopping from Cookies and Cwtches if you did. 🙂 Our fab giveaway includes a bubba bag from Snoozeshade; entries (UK Residents Only) are via the Rafflecopter at the end of this post. See the 12 Days of Parenting page for terms and conditions.

My title should be what I WANT to get through the season; I tell you, I very much would like a number of things, but that’s another post on another day. So on to what I need to get through Christmas; not much really … I think … considering that my Christmas is a ‘non-Christmas’ anyway.

Foremost on my list is time; oh my word, I need more time. The school holiday is zooming through way too fast for my liking.

Can I please have an extra hour in the day … perhaps two
just to make the day longer …
and get through the forever house tidying …
and the thinking about the school work I need to catch up on before I’m back to teaching …

yeah, to have more fun with my little man and watch him grow …
for those extra tight cuddles during breastfeeding
to watch his little hands hold on to things …
and here him giggling his head off …

What I need to get through Christmas

Oh yes, more time with my hubby to sit around and lounge …
to talk about something and nothing …
and laugh till our sides ache …
to hold hands and watch our son …
to build our family strong and solid …
and definitely for more family hugs with our little man …

I’d definitely like more time to take my ma around …
to show her what the South East has got to offer …
and discover London’s markets together …
to wow at the Christmas lights through busy high streets at night …
if she’ll dare stay out so late with me …
to ask her many more questions …
until she’s really had enough … 🙂

I’d like more time to hang out with my thoughts …
and even more with my maker …
and to write, and write, and write …
and read, and read, and read …
and walk, and sing, and enjoy …
and talk, and look, and just be …

And oh, to clean, really clean, deep clean …
to sort through more piles and get ride of dust …
to wash and decorate as I’d like …
And be clutter free forever more …

And after the time spent writing all these, all the other things I think I need don’t seem worth listing … because if I just have more time, then I’ll be able to go shopping for them, and use them as I need.

You were probably not expecting that when you started reading; a bit of a different take on today’s theme, I know. And here ends my #12daysofparenting penultimate post, as I continue thinking about what I need to get through Christmas, and what I’d really like that will help me get through this season.

Before I forget, ‘illness’ is the code word from here today, and I sure do hope it stays away.
